Our little neighborhood has several ponds and all the wildlife that accompanies them. So, lots of ducks! The mother Muscovy duck below was walking along the side of the street with all her little ducklings behind her as I was leaving the neighborhood. Thankfully, I saw them hop up on the grass as I was leaving the neighborhood, so I didn’t have to turn around and shoo them off the road!

We also have Black-bellied Whistling Ducks. They travel in large, noisy flocks.

These ducks look like they are napping. I am not sure what the duck on the left is doing. There is always one odd member of any group!

The Great Egrets were present in large numbers today, too. They look so regal as they patiently wait for their food to appear.

I have tried to catch a Heron as it fishes in the pond, but have had no luck. I did see him sitting on a neighbor’s rooftop, preening his feathers. Not a great shot, but he is very interesting looking.

I hope you enjoyed these images of waterfowl. Still trying to catch the heron by the pond!
Until next time…
