I’m Sheri, a backyard naturalist with a camera in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. This blog is my way of listening to the quiet wild that surrounds me. Here in Cypress, Texas, the wild doesn’t roar – it flutters. It perches. It sings and chirps. From the cardinal, who arrives like a flame on the fence, to the toad who hops back under the planter when the sun comes up, the backyard is a very busy place.

In this blog, I will share my observations and wonderings about what I see and hear as I putter around the garden. I will highlight a different backyard visitor each week, along with photos and videos.
